Haga-Utsunomiya Light Rail Transit (LRT) began its service on August 26, 2023.  It was established by Utsunomiya City, Haga Town and Utsunomiya Light Rail Co., Ltd.  It is the first case of LRT in Japan in which the whole line was newly built.  The GK Design Group was engaged with its total design including visual identity (VI), stations and so on.  With an aim to move away from a motorized society, the Haga-Utsunomiya LRT was designed with environmental consideration and passenger convenience being free of barriers.  It is now considered as the standard for a future super smart city.
