新宿サインリング

新宿副都心地区は新都庁の移転にともない、それまでの業務中心の超高層ビル街区から、様々な人の訪れる複合的な機能を持つ街に変貌した。
この街区は碁盤目状の街路が復層的に構成され、特に車による来街者には非常にわかりにくい構造となっている。
各街路を特徴づけ、階層化し各交差点を顕在化することにより、目的地への動線を明確化する目的で設けられたのがこのサインリングである。
サインリングは交差点に必要な様々な機能を集約し、乱立しがちな柱類を整理して秩序感のある空間を創出するとともに、純粋な円という形態を浮かせることにより、強いイメージを形成させることでこの交差点を特徴づけることに成功している。
集約した機能は、車道照明、横断歩道を照らす歩行者用照明、交通信号、方面誘導表示、監視カメラ、車両検知器などである。
Shinjuku Sub-central District has changed from the area centered on high-rise office building to the town with multiple functions that many people visit. The city structure, on the other hand, was not easy for people from outside to be familiarized, especially for visitors by cars, because of its blocks with multiple crossings.
Shinjuku Sign Ring was built to show the traffic of clear direction to the destination by openly expressing each intersection.
When many kinds of posts tend to jumble had come to be organized. By consolidating different functions. The functions being unified were; the lighting of the road, the lighting for pedestrians, traffic signals, directional signs, surveillance cameras, vehicle monitors and the like.
Succeeded in characterizing the intersection with sharp image emerged by the form in a simple circle together with creating orderly space through the consolidation of the functions.
