When you go somewhere, you probably want to wear your favorite clothes or carry something that liven up your trip. What kind of things do you have for such occasions?

In my case, motorcycles play that role. For example, when I feel like making a short trip as if to go for a walk, I prefer to hop on my favorite motorcycle and head for nearby tourist destinations such as Hakone. Making a casual trip like this brings me a precious moment, but it’s also important for me to “wear” my favorite motorcycle during my private time.

I can feel the same feeling when I enjoy motorcycle touring with my friends. Especially so when I enjoy riding along with people driving motorcycles with different tastes than mine. Such differences strike me as something fascinating. Their machines are as varied as colorful supersport type, offroad vehicles, sleek-design cruiser type, simply designed naked type, and easygoing scouters. These various types of riders operate their machines in their own way and present themselves in their original outfits. Sharing riding experiences with them helps me see things from various perspectives and expand my view of the world.

I always keep in mind that we as designers are required to provide motorcycle designs that go beyond differences in tastes of motorcycle riders. I hope such efforts will result in lifting their spirits.
