Akihabara UDX building was opened on March 9, 2006. Design Soken Hiroshima and GK Tech were assigned with its environmental design.
Under the concept of making it an “Akihabara Cultural Generator,” various “electronic scenes” were designed.
The intention was to build up the innovativeness that the city has succeeded and to generate a driving force to create a unique urban culture.
The monument modeled after a wind turbine, pavement patterns in the image of integrated circuits, an information gate using light-emitting diodes (LEDs), and the display terminal of numbers embedded on the side along the JR railway tracks are just a few of the examples. A total environmental design is applied from the pedestrians' decks connected with the train station to street signs and lighting fixtures. The photo shows the information gate using LEDs.
