A1200 type low floor streetcar
City of Sapporo Transportation Department
Design of the first low floor streetcar in Sapporo. The car was introduced as the symbol to spearhead the plan to reactivate the city. The exterior design with sharp lines and black and white colors expresses the transparent air of Sapporo city, and its simple cityscape with strong contrast. For the interior, wood grown in Hokkaido is applied to emphasize the local flavor. The curved ceiling and indirect lighting create a comfortable space.
In addition to the car, GK Industrial Design proposed design ideas for stations and other elements
