GK Design Group Celebrated the 70th Anniversary

GK Design Group held its 70th anniversary celebration party on October 3 at the Keio Plaza Hotel in Shinjuku, Tokyo. Kazuo Tanaka, President/CEO of GK Design, the holding company of GK Group, gave a speech in front of nearly 400 attendees and was warmly congratulated by the guests. We are grateful for this wonderful opportunity to reflect on GK’s 70 years of history and share our vision for the future.
GK stands for the Group of Koike, which was founded in 1952 by Mr. Iwataro Koike, an assistant professor then at the Tokyo University of the Arts, and several students, including Kenji Ekuan. Since then, we have been striving under the motto of “Organized Creative Power.” With people who share the same goals and strong passion as our predecessors, GK group has grown into an organization with more than 200 members in 8 domestic and 4 overseas companies. This has only been made possible by the relationships with people who have supported us, and GK members surely let this fact sink in during the celebration.
GK Design Group will continue to pursue the intrinsic value of design and strive to create a better society. Please look forward to what the next generation of GK will bring.

Representative designs of GK were displayed in a gallery space at the venue. GK70 signs and images on the screens were developed by GK members.
