We worked on redesigning a public square that runs about 100 meters long from the west side of Koshien Station of Hanshin Electric Railway to the Hanshin Koshien Stadium. Considering the symbolic importance that the Stadium has for baseball fans nationwide and the large number of people visiting the place, we designed a circular-shaped plaza with a wide traffic line for pedestrians that resembles the running tracks. Traffic and square functionalities and the capability as a nodal point for neighboring facilities are duly considered. Bricks, which reminds of the exterior wall of Koshien Stadium, is used as a shared motif among the square and the facilities.
