In recent years, Northern European countries have attracted attention in many aspects ranges from design field to social systems such as ecological measures, education and welfare.

The countries have been building their social systems on the condition that nature and humans are the most important resources of countries to cover many unfavorable factors such as severe climates, scarce natural resources, lower population density. Also the countries have nurtured national ethos valuing spiritual richness more than materialistic affluence.

These background, overlapped with the times, must be a reason the countries have played a role as world pioneers in many fields. Higher appreciation of the design born in Northern Europe, for its functional and simple yet heartwarming nature with much empathy for users, may be traced into a part of the background.

In this exhibit, you will see about 150 items from Northern European countries, loved by people the world over, of everyday sundries, chairs, lighting fixtures, table wares, etc. While you will be introduced to the significance of the design and the background of their production, you will see their culture and climate represented by peopleļ¾•s lifestyle, views, and value perception.
