St. Petersburg State Polytechnical Univ. in Russia and GK Design Group have signed the Agreement on Cooperation for the exchange of design activities. As of May 25, 2016, at the University in the city of St. Petersburg.
Over the last a half century, the professional design societies in Russia and GK have been exchanging the information and activities of design. GK Design Group started the exchange in the 60s, by an opportunity taken by late chairperson Kenji Ekuan through the activities of International Council of Societies of Industrial Design (ICSID) since the era of Soviet Union. In the practical aspect, the relation started when GK members participated in the design seminar “Inter-seminar, Yerevan” in Russia hosted by ICSID in 1985. The positive participation led the events such as GK’s cooperation for “Design Perestroika Exhibition” 1991 in Tokyo, and many other cooperating programs followed.
Lately from the year of 2002 on, GK has kept sending several members to “International Conference ECODESIGN” hosted by the University every other year. According to these track record of the cooperation for years, the university has requested to formalize and deepening the relation through design aspects. Now the call has borne the agreement. From now on, the activities of exchanging internships, hosting a seminar and practicing many others would be widening the ripple of the exchange between Russian and Japanese design fields.
