Mr. Kazuo Tanaka, the president of GK Design Group,
participated in the 2nd WIDD Commemorative Symposium

On June 29, Mr. Tanaka participated in the symposium, held by JIDA and JIDPO, a part of commemorative events for the establishment of International Council of Societies of Industrial Design (ICSID), as a moderator of a panel discussion. Besides the president of GK Design Group, Mr. Tanaka has been serving ICSID as a board member.
The symposium is the second such event following last year's. The theme of this year was "Could Japanese Design Make Its Way in the World?"
The conditions surrounding design in Japan seems to be less energetic in the economic down turn since last fall. Under such concerns about the conditions at the symposium, having recognized present status of Japanese design in the midst of international competition, the participants discussed what should be thought and done to revitalize Japanese design. Exciting discussion took place as many highly suggestive comments were made one after another from many positions and views of the floor.
